To the Family To Roane County In Tennessee Beyond Tennessee

Crazy Quilt
Newcomb, Tennessee
(Campbell County)

Bethel supports the Crazy Quilt community center with an annual clothing drive, a Christmas toy drive, and recently, with financial assistance.

Crazy Quilt began in 1975 for the purpose of providing good used clothing to mountain folk with low or fixed incomes in the rural Newcomb area of East Tennessee. The Crazy Quilt Friendship Center is staffed by four local women and has grown to serve people in Campbell and surrounding counties with a focus on women and children. It is a multi-issue grassroots community center committed to community outreach, emergency help, a small craft business enterprise, leadership training and women’s empowerment opportunities.

On November 13, 2002, the Crazy Quilt building burned to the ground and everything was lost. Contributions to help with the reconstruction made be sent to Bethel designated "Crazy Quilt."

Newcomb is a small rural community located in the mountains near Jellico, Tennessee.
