To the Family To Roane County In Tennessee Beyond Tennessee

The L3 Initiative

Bethel participates in this program by providing volunteer tutors.

The L3 Initiative (love, learn, listen) is an established program at Kingston United Methodist Church (KUMC). The coordinators are Pat Rowan and Daley Rogers. This tutoring program is geared to help Kingston Elementary School Children with whatever subject needs attention. This school year (2004/2005), there are 25 students paired with 25 tutors. Bethel participates with four tutors and, hopefully, with more tutors next year.

The tutoring sessions are every Wednesday afternoon from 3:45 to 5:00 PM. A school bus brings the students to the front of KUMC. 15 minutes are set aside for a Bible story and a snack, and the remaining one hour is set aside for tutoring. Parents are responsible for picking up their child/children at the end of the session. The results of the tutoring are very positive and positively impact the students’ grades.

If you are interested in volunteering for the L3 Initiative, please review the areas of ministry below and check the ones for which you would give your time; then just click the "Send Form to Church Office" button. If you have questions, please contact Jim Condon at 376-4420.
