Bethel Presbyterian Church
a community of faith, fellowship, study and service
. . . seeking God's peace, justice and love

(Mission Statement completed in 1996)

Bethel's mission is to nurture spiritual growth through worship, Christian education, service to others, and a fellowship of believers, both at Bethel and throughout the faith community. We will create such a climate through our time, our talents, and our commitment to sharing our faith with others, encouraging them to accept Christ as their Savior. Our Ministries shall focus on the needs of the aging, children, and young families, and the challenges of racism, poverty, diversity, the environment, and peacemaking. Knowing that Jesus is the head of the Church, we trust that the Holy Spirit will guide us to become the church we need to be.

Vision 2010

Following a Season of Dreaming,
in an eight-week all-church small group study,
and following a Season of Discernment,
through prayer, scripture study, analysis and dialogue;
we joyfully open
a Season of Dedication and Action,
committing to the following Ministry Initiatives
to bring about God’s preferred future for our church:

an additional Sunday morning worship service to reach those outside our walls;
a task force to revitalize Bethel’s ministry to youth and children;
a congregational gifts-discernment program to enable each member and friend to discover and serve according to his or her special gifts, rather than exclusively according to Bethel’s needs;
a small group ministry to enable us, and those who join us, to comfort, encourage and minister to one another and grow spiritually, using courses like Alpha, the Stephens Ministry, and others;
a Bethel Learning Center where those at risk in our community can receive tools for a better life;
a deeper commitment to and focus on mission in ecumenical partnership.
